A directory tells you a business exists, usually months after it opened. Raw city data tells you a permit was filed. CityRadar tells you which of those permits means call today and which means call in two months.

Phones, emails and websites found in public sources. About 58% of businesses licensed in the last 90 days have at least one. We record where each came from and when we found it — both travel with your spreadsheet export.
We cross-check every contact against several public sources and record where each one came from. When the match isn't clear, we hold it back.

THE NOISE WE STRIP OUT
The data is free. Knowing which 164 of 24,078 records matter is not.
We join the city's licence and permit records, untangle renewals from genuinely new businesses, strip out franchise branches, and match each permit to the right unit. Every item on the right is a real mess in the source that CityRadar cleans up — and we link to every source record so you can check us.
Renewals aren't new businesses
The raw feed makes a renewal look identical to a brand-new licence. We check every licence against earlier records and only call it new when there is no prior record.
Franchise branches are removed by default
A national chain opening its fortieth store isn't a lead. Switch them back on with a filter if you want them.
Numbered holding companies are filtered out
A licence issued to a number with no trading name tells you nothing you can act on.
Cancelled and dead permits are hidden
A permit that isn't going ahead isn't activity. Refused and on-hold permits are hidden too.
Home and residential permits stay out
Residential permits are excluded from the commercial list.

What is CityRadar?
CityRadar reads a city's official business licence and building permit records every morning and turns them into a usable list of businesses that are opening or newly licensed — with contact details where they're public. It tells you not just that a business appeared in the records, but whether it is genuinely new rather than an existing one relicensing or relocating.
Isn't this data free from the city?
Yes, and we link to every source record so you can check us. What you're paying for is the work in between: several files joined together, licence records untangled, renewals and franchise branches filtered out, permits matched to the right business at the right unit, and contact details found and labelled. The data is free. Knowing which 164 of 24,078 records matter this month is not.
How is this different from a lead list or a directory?
Directories tell you a business exists, usually months late. CityRadar reads the licence and permit records as they are published, and says which businesses are genuinely new and what they have filed.
How fresh is it?
We read each city's open data every morning, so anything a city publishes appears the same day. Every page shows when it was last updated.
How do you tell a new business from a renewal?
The raw feed makes them look identical. We check every licence against earlier records and only call it new when there's no prior record of it. Renewals are left out by default.
Where do the contact details come from?
Public sources: the business's own listing, its own website, and web search. We record which source each one came from and the date, and both are included in your spreadsheet export. About 58% of businesses licensed in the last 90 days have at least one. They're sourced and dated, not verified — and if a contact doesn't clearly match the business, we hold it back rather than show you a wrong number.
Do I need an account?
No. The whole website is free and public. You only need an email address for the weekly digest and the spreadsheet export.
Can I connect it to Claude or ChatGPT?
Claude, today. Connect CityRadar and ask things like “what new restaurants opened this week, and which have phone numbers?” — answered from live data, in conversation. Setup takes about two minutes. ChatGPT support needs a sign-in flow we haven't built yet.
So what am I actually paying for?
Automation. On the free plan you do the work by hand in your browser. Pro gets the list out in bulk as a spreadsheet. Automation pipes it straight into your AI assistant or your own systems. Enterprise is that, plus our time helping you wire it up.
Does CityRadar send emails or manage my pipeline?
No, on purpose. It's a data source, not a CRM or an email tool. That's why it connects to what you already use instead of replacing it.
Which cities do you cover?
Calgary today — all 274 neighbourhoods and all 24,078 businesses in the city's records. Edmonton, Toronto and Vancouver are next. Tell us which city you need and it moves up the list.
How do I reach you with a question?
Email support@cityradar.io — it reaches a person, not a queue. Ask about a city you need, a record that looks wrong, or how to connect it to your own tools. Every business page also has a “report incorrect info” link, and corrections are made by hand.
Is using this data legal?
Yes. Business licence and permit records are public commercial records published by the city — not personal information. Contact details come from public listings and businesses' own websites, and each carries a record of where and when we found it, which is the documentation Canadian anti-spam law expects a sender to keep. Residential permits are excluded from the commercial list.
